Innovative technology creates the ideal internal climate
 
 
The new Technological and Business Innovation Park building in uptown Barcelona certainly lives up to its name. Technological innovations in industrial processes have been incorporated in the construction of the building with domotic equipment, structural cabling, optic fibres and an extensive area of solar panels. The south-facing façade is constructed from iron, aluminium and glass, and integrates a photovoltaic solar energy facility capable of generating enough energy to illuminate 2.5 km of city streets for one year.
 
A supporting curtain wall allows the hot air accumulated in the air chamber to be released in summer by means of an automated trapdoor in the roof, but reused in winter. This building is thus an excellent example of the integration of new technologies with traditional architecture to make use of clean energy and contribute to a healthier environment.
