A city within a city
Computer simulation creates perfect office climate
The city of Bratislava has a new landmark. Built on a 1.1 hectare plot, the Apollo Business Centre has an overall surface area of more than 70,000 square meters and a rentable surface of 43,440 square meters. No wonder the locals call it “a city within a city”. The Centre forms part of the easily accessible and fast developing downtown area of Bratislava, which is expected to gradually expand up the Danube riverside. It is designed to offer tenants maximum flexibility; the size and layout of leased rooms can be quickly adapted without the need to change addresses.
The use of aluminium curtain walls and windows creates a modern, transparent appearance. The extraordinary appearance of the frontage is thanks to the use of oxidized copper. The lighting technology, microclimate and air conditioning are based on the results of computer simulation of the internal air currents and the overall illumination. And by incorporating a variety of green spaces inside and outside the building – providing attractive, airy and sunny premises – the architect has been able to create an ideal working environment.
