Waiting for a train is not so bad after all
Ukraine has been modernizing its railway system for a number of years. Faster, more comfortable trains are being introduced; new lines are being laid; and railway stations are being reconstructed. As Kiev’s Karavaevi Dachi station serves more than 20,000 passengers a day, it was a key priority for renewal.
The renovated passenger hall is now superbly equipped to provide its passengers with quick, quality service. It incorporates eight booking offices, spacious and cosy waiting rooms, and of course a café. Elevators and escalators efficiently lead passengers to the three platforms, where over 100 trains stop each day. The architects’ concept was to realise an open space. The transparency of aluminium and glass constructions contributes to a light, airy environment. Waiting for a train in Kiev has never been so pleasant.
