Reviving the heart
Refurbishment project revitalises city centre
The original Ministry of Social Affairs, Labour and Family (MSA) consisted of three towers dating from 1974. The architect has been able to keep the original façade structure while interconnecting the three buildings. The use of aluminium curtain walling on the ground floor creates a modern, transparent and functional effect.
A key objective was to improve energy-efficiency and exclude the noise of the city. The use of special insulated aluminium windows has achieved both goals: for example, the cost of air conditioning and heating has been reduced by 30-40%.
Different types of windows are used on different sides of the building to take into account the prevailing environmental conditions. The new look of the building has also revitalised the city centre, with comfortable and stylish offices surrounding an attractive square with a fountain. Moreover, from the top floors, office workers have beautiful views over the city and the River Park.
