Standing out from the crowd
Curtain wall proves particularly appealing
The Zepter Business Centre in Warsaw certainly arouses interest from passers-by. Some say it resembles the hull of a ship; others say, rather more prosaically, a kettle! At any rate, the architect has achieved the desired effect: no-one is indifferent. In reality, the mass of the building resembles the letter Z (the logo of the firm), while at the same time referring to the company’s products – kitchen utensils.
In addition to offices, the centre includes luxury apartments; commercial space; and even a winter garden. The building façade is imposing and stands out from other buildings recently erected in Warsaw. Particularly stunning is a 10,000 m2 curtain wall structure. Its execution in stainless steel would have been an extraordinarily expensive and economically unjustifiable proposition. However, the idea of using anodised aluminum profiles that imitate polished inox turned out to be not only extremely attractive, but cost-effective too.
